Oak Carabiner Rattle
Linda and Kagan originally designed this rattle for their good friends, a climbing couple, who had recently had a child. They drew their inspiration from the form of a carabiner (used for climbing). The parents and the baby loved the gift! Since then other parents and friends have asked about them, so the two artists began to produce them in limited quantities. There is something compelling about the shape and feel of this object, and when you discover it makes sound.. its a magical thing!
Baby tested and approved for 0-3 years. Each Rattle comes in a little cotton sac with it's own 1oz jar of woodwax!
Knotwork LA uses exclusively domestic hardwoods with a tradition of woodware use. They don't use wood that has been treated or is unsuitable for food contact. The rattles have been thoroughly sanded, steamed to raise the grain, sanded again, then treated with multiple coats of beeswax/oil finish. They can be cleaned with warm soapy water and allowed to dry naturally. The finish will gradually wear off, but can be restored with the natural woodwax.
About Knotwork LA
Knotwork LA is the line of artists and designers Linda Hsiao and Kagan Taylor. Their collaboration started with the creation of the rattle. Linda and Kagan originally designed it for good friends who recently had a child. It was almost too beautiful to give away! But instead they created a second shape and began spending all their spare time producing them. The rattles are still handmade by the two artists in small batches in their small studio in LA - ready for each baby that is born.
